Wooden Stamps all the Way from India

Hi, sorry I haven't posted anything for a week now.  I have been very busy lately playing with paints and getting ready for my cousins wedding in July.

Been shopping for fabric to make dresses for my mum, me and my daughter.  The colour theme is royal blue so once the dresses are ready I will be doing some beadwork and stuff  on them.  But that's another story and I will keep you posted on that one.

For today I thought I would show you my stamps I bought when I went to India nearly 5 or so years ago.  I bought them from a street seller in Mumbai and they have the traditional henna designs carved in the wood.

I also bought some ink, which has now dried out, in the colour of henna.  The stamps are supposed to be used so that you can print henna designs with the ink on your skin.  The ink is completely washable so as you can imagine I definitley had lots of fun with them while the ink lasted!!!

So I thought I could put the stamps to some good use as I do not have anymore of the lovely ink left.  I borrowed my darling husbands paints and played around a bit on fabric (still need to work on it) and paper (much better at this).

And here is the result - postcard style notecards printed with a henna design in vibrant blue

I'm going to be listing these in my Folksy shop.  But I have still to decide whether to sell them in the doily envelopes or just plain envelopes.  ?????????????????????????

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!!!!!!

Gorgeous doilies

Just thought I'd let you all know that I have just listed another item in my shop Beau by Me.  My dad bought me some doilies and I've been having lots of fun playing around with them.  So my latest make involves some gorgeous doilies as you might have guessed already.  I made some pretty envelopes that can be used as, well, envelopes to put gift cards in or a note, maybe even a love note to yours truly.  Or, they can be used as envelope sleeves.  They look stunning, especially when you can see the colour of the envelope through the little holes in the doily.  If you have envelopes in pink, blue, green, yellow, silver and the list goes on, it looks great with the doily envelope.  Come and have a look here.

Doesn't it look so pretty?

Ok, so now I'm going to play with my paints.   See you later!!!

My First Folksy Friday - Buttons

I have been thinking for a while about what my theme could be for my Folksy Friday.  In the end I chose to feature buttons.  We use buttons everyday and they are usually on our shirts, coats, trouser etc.  But of course they have many more uses than that. So I thought we could see the different ways in which crafters use buttons other than just on clothing.  So here is my first ever Folksy Friday, I hope you like it.

I have to say I really enjoyed doing this Folksy Friday and searching for items to feature.  Some I have seen before , others I found by accident.  I never thought buttons had so many uses before.  I think this may have opened up a new world of adventure for me!!!

P.S  I would like to do another Folksy Friday next week but I'm stuck on a  theme. Please submit your suggestions here or here by 12th May so that I can look through them and choose one for my next Folksy Friday on 14th May.

Looking forward to your suggestions.
Thanks

Customized Girly Baby Bibs

When I was pregnant I had plenty of time on my hands and I wanted to do something that I enjoy so much.  And thats making things, anything really.  So I bought a pack of plain white bibs and used some of my beads, ribbon, diamonds and fabric to make these.

SHOP NAME 3 SHOP NAME 4

Of course, at the time I didn't know I was going to have a girl.  Originally I put these up to sell, but they didn't sell.  So I was left with them and thought about giving them away to anyone I knew who may have given birth to a girl.  But that didn't happen.  So my daughter is the lucky owner of these gorgeous bibs and she has worn all of them except for the blue sequin and ribbon one.   We are going to be attending a wedding in July and the colour theme is blue, so she will be wearing it then.

Let me know what you think of these as I was thinking of making some more to add to my shop on Folksy.

Day 14 - My Handmade Items Got Featured AGAIN!!!!

I'm so excited!!!  Just logged into my account on Folksy and saw one unread message in my inbox.  I wasn't even expecting it.  It was in fact from NOfkantsCurios.  A message to let me know that my Damsel in Distress pincushion has been featured in her blog.  I'm over the moon, especially as it's my newest item, YIPPEEE!!!

My Sweet Bliss Hairpin was also featured by LondonFogg a few days ago.  Click the links to see.  So I'd like to say a big THANK YOU to you guys for showcasing my handmade items.  You have given me even more confidence to continue.

My Pincushion Debut!

I just couldn't wait to show off the pincushion that I was talking about in my previous blog.  I made the first one of many last night and I'm so chuffed with it!  It looks exactly like how I pictured it in my mind and I've already listed it in my shop this morning.  So here it is:

I think it looks so cute and glamorous with the ruffle and diamonds.  To see more pictures visit my shop on folksy - Beau by Me.

And if your wondering why I called this pincushion 'Damsel in Distress'.  It's because that's exactly how I feel when I can't find my pin when I put it down.  I always seem to lose it and I get so frustatrated even when I look in the place where I think I've put it, I still can't find it.  It's always somebody else who does.

I think it would make a lovely gift, so I'm going to make one for myself as a treat, even tho I already have one.

Hope you like it!!

Stocking up in Beau by Me

Just wanted to let you all know that I have been busy this Bank Holiday weekend making new products to add to my shop. I made a headband with some lovely green diamonds sewn into the centre. I think they look absolutely gorgeous and I could'nt wait to use them. What do you think?

I also made a hairpin that I was so looking forward to doing and I'm hoping to do more colours pretty soon.

I'm also going to be stocking up on more gorgeous diamonds to use on my project.  They look stunning.  I also made a brooch using felt which I still need to add to my shop, but I'm currently trying to think of a name for it.  I'm a little stuck at the moment!

Hope you like it!  Anyways, today I'm going to be working on some more projects for my shop.  I have a long list of things I would like to make and  I just can't wait to get started.  I'm hoping to be making some pin cushions pretty soon, as I'm always loosing mine.  I have some beautiful printed and plain fabrics that I haven't had a chance to use yet, so I will be taking those out to work with pretty soon.  Can't wait!!!

My handmade items got featured......TWICE!!!!

Something I thought that would never happen to me actually did happen.  I always thought that it was something that happened to other people but it happened to me too.  And its all thanks to Card Making Princess & Agnes Baby Knits and Top Floor Treasures.

Beau by Me was featured on their blogs yesterday for their Folksy Friday. My Cream Dream, Sparkly Snow Cloud and I Heart You Buttons were my stars of the day.

I really wasn't expecting it so it was a very pleasant surprise indeed.  I'm sure everyone else was over the moon to be featured too.

I only just set up my shop on Folksy - 22nd April to be precise!  And I have been working very hard to try and promote myself.  I still have a long way to go but this is just the start.  To be honest with you, I was thinking of giving up before this because I thought it wasn't going to work.  I felt like I was sitting and waiting all the time.  Although I haven't yet made my first sale I do believe that it will happen.  So I'm not going to give up, I'm just going to keep it up and try and make it work.

Anyways after seeing their Folksy Fridays and looking at some others too I was thinking of doing my very own soon.  I can't decide on what theme I would like to do my Folksy Friday on, so if you have any suggestions please let me know.
